The All-Success Students Program (Grant)

AKA, the Orange Pill Problem.
Passed about 10 years ago with the approval of the DPS - right around the time that the surrounding counties lost contact with Chariot County. Extremely controversial, this act called for the distribution of little orange pills throughout the school system. This drug, called Acurion, is manufactured by Emberton Pharmaceuticals, and has been described as "cognitive enhancers". It is a very addictive substance which appears to be designed to make the children docile and extremely receptive to the public school system's curriculum which, in turn, crushes them into good little worker drones. DPS facility is trained to watch the students for withdrawal symptoms so that they can be "hospitalized", alongside threats that failure to take the pills results in expulsion from school.
When this program was first proposed there was a significant (understandable) amount of opposition. Evidence points to Emberton having paid off most of the opposition, and there was talk about them coming to an agreement with the DPS behind closed doors before it was even announced. Even then Detroit did not have the funds to stand on its own, and Emberton had a lot of money to throw around. The most outspoken group against the act was a nonprofit known as the Concerned Families of Detroit, and were led by Peter Dunderson (AKA: Piotr Dundee ap Eiluned.) Negotiations went on for months with the Concerned Families in staunch opposition of the bill and proposed use of Acurion. Then they did an abrupt about-face and began to endorse it. Dundee apparently claimed that this is because they negotiated "generous" opt-out plans that would be paid by Emberton and the DPS board, which involved Emberton paying tuition for families wanting to send their children to charter schools.... but declined to pay transportation and logistics which, for many families in Detroit, was a deal-breaker.
Only a handful of names of people involved with the Concerned Families are available, including Dunderson, a Mrs. Elise Alister, and Frank MacMillian.
Grant is currently the lead on this investigation, with Asher, Emmett and Rae assisting where possible.

The Chateau

Site of a lost freehold, last held by Sir Piotr Dundee ap Eiluned. It lies outside of the Detroit dead zone in Grosse Point, though Grant could probably throw a rock and have it land inside.
In 2010, Dundee 'renovated' the estate. City records claim that he made "several modifications" of the mortal structure as well as constructing a high fence topped in cold iron around the property. However, one of the current occupants, the unpleasantly banal Mrs. Janice West, claims that Dundee actually tore down the old structure, even removing the foundation, and built a new modern structure that is filled with cold iron detail work.

The Dead Zone (Reese)

Thanks to Reese, Rae and Grant, we now have a working map of the dead zone that engulfs Detroit. For the most part, it appears to stick almost exactly to the city limits, though there are two sections where it clearly deviates. However, the specific boundary line seems to "wobble" a little bit; how much specifically is being monitored. It does seem to function like a bubble however. The boundary is much more clearly sensed from the inside, while from the outside it is almost impenetrable. There is a spot near the north-central part of the zone where the overall banality is somewhat lower than the rest of the area, probably due to the influx of tourists and students.
Persons not from Detroit are far less effected by the blanket Banality than people who are native to the area. No timeline for exposure has been established, although Reese is looking into this.
Reese's notes are also available.

The (Lack of) Dreaming

Some of the 'local' kithain came into the Detroit area through the Dreaming, except there is no Dreaming, only a wasteland. the Satyr Imani gave some details about the journey, describing things like a stone egg and a crystal spider that seemed to be some sort of banal chimera. They used a compass on loan from Count Godwin ap Fiona of Monarch County, just across the river, and used it to track the location of Chariot County's own county seat and the trod. It was described as having been crystallized, including the Sidhe who fled through the trod and sealed it behind them. They too had been turned into crystal and then shattered.

Sir Piotr Dundee ap Eiluned

So interesting that he deserves his own post.
Former personal adviser to His Excellency, Count Lucien Valerius ap Eiluned, the last ruler of Chariot County. He held the Chateau, a landed knighthood holding titled to the Baron of the Chariot. Was known to be active during the period wherein the County was isolated, and is the only kithain known to have crossed the barrier during the decade or so the county was deemed lost. Has strong ties to the opposition of the All-Success program, however seems to have finally accepted Emberton's ill-structured settlement. Made significant changes to the Chateau in 2010 before selling it in 2012 and leaving Michigan. He has been linked to a mysterious death in upstate New York, where his mortal host, Peter Dunderson, met his end along a roadside, though specific details remain unavailable. The matter is considered an unsolved homicide.

Zug Island

An old steel refinery on an island in the river just southwest of Detroit. Excluded from the city limits, also excluded from the DZ. Lots of guards, lots of fences and gated access points. For the time being, this is Not Our Problem.
