Talk:Combat Mechanics

Why are we using 2nd Edition initiative mechanics? They're less swingy, sure, but it violates things like the Spirit of the Fray Gift. Darc (talk) 22:10, 5 June 2014 (EDT)

If we're going to have a separate action declaration step, it should probably use the reverse declaration rules. Darc (talk) 22:10, 5 June 2014 (EDT)

This pose setup is going to take -forever-. This has worked for me in the past:

  1. Round Setup
    1. Round Synopsis - ST summarizes the current scene so that all players understand what is going on.
    2. Roll Initiative
    3. Declare Actions (Reverse order of Initiative)
    4. Turn Resolution (in Initiative Order)
      1. If the defender wishes to roll/spend Will to go defensive, they do so now
      2. Attacker rolls for Attack
      3. Defender rolls for Defense (if applicable)
      4. Attacker rolls Damage
      5. Defender rolls Soak
      6. ST announces outcome
      7. Attacker poses. This should include everything that has happened to them since the previous round (very similar to a pose order in soft RP), as well as their attack and outcome (This step is non-blocking. Continue adjudicating combat while this pose is written/sent)

The way the page is written, you're expecting each player to pose twice. Once on their attempt to attack, and another reacting to what has happened to them. Very spammy, very slow. Darc (talk) 22:10, 5 June 2014 (EDT)

This was just a rough draft, I told Sups someone needed to refine it prior to it getting used. I see your point though - Castle
