East Side Detroit - Upper East Side The mostly-residential Upper East Side shows signs of decay: a number of empty lots dot the landscape, the roads and sidewalks are cracked and seamed, and there are plenty of weed-covered yards, broken-down cars, and boarded-up windows. Still, one finds pockets of neighborhood pride here and there--a few well-kept houses, a few places where people have turned a vacant lot into a neighborhood garden, or seeded it with wildflowers and evergreen shrubs. Eastward and northward, the houses trend more toward real decay, and one might find a building with the roof caved in, or an empty shell of a house with no windows or door at all. The neighborhood immediately to the west, Poletown East, is also residential; as one heads in that direction, things get cleaner and less run-down. The same progression occurs to the south, toward Islandview. |

Although he declines a second cookie, Derek certainly takes an orange soda, nodding in gratitude and also giving a murmured, "Thank you." The soda is cracked, and after a drink or two, he deadpans to Amane, "It's pink? I hadn't noticed." To Shadi, he then says more seriously(?), "You have a sweet ride." He's standing nearish Shadi and Amane, who are near the back of Shadi's very pink car, which is an empty parking lot just at the edge of measure 2-- a part of town that won't ask too many questions about an influx of Very Angry People. Shadi still has an orange tissue paper-wrapped gift tied up with black twine. Derek is dressed in a black double-breasted jacket which mostly fits him, but it's not tailored for him specifically, and he looks mildly ill-at-ease, occasionally tugging at an edge. Beneath that is a white dress shirt, and on his neck is a ... floofy black bit of cloth. His hair is a bit of a mess, and he looks bland as ever, even though there are black lines on his face emphasizing any small frown he should make. He has a fake moustache on, and to finish the look, a fake raven sits on one shoulder. Meanwhile, Shadi is dressed... in NOT PINK for a change! Indeed, she's very gothically attired in all black with an orange hijab. One that is covered in cartoon bats, cartoon spiderwebs, cartoon spiders, and cartoon jack o' lanterns. Amane's motorcycle is here, and she's dressed as a FEMALE Nightwing, her bike armor following his costume perfectly while on her face rests Nightwing's signature black mask. There's orange soda in the trunk of Shadi's car, and there are cookies! They're... in the shape of werewolves. With their claws up and going 'rawr.' Also, they glitter. Glittery werewolves ftw. A sleek black mid-sized sedan that looks an awful lot like a cop car pulls up alongside Shadi's, the tinted windows and poor lighting of the parking lot giving little indication as to who's inside. Unless, of course, one was to recognize the car and its plates, which Shadi undoubtedly would. From the driver's seat comes Sandra, of course, though it may take a moment to recognize her. The well groomed but ultimately rather cursory attention she typically affords her hair is more neatly styled, the makeup she wears more apparent (if for no other reason than the darker red of the lipstick), and she appears to be wearing something expensive-looking around her neck. Hard to tell if that means she's gotten into the spirit of things, given the long coat she wears to ward off the chill, but the appearance of what might be smokey stockings and the click-click of polished slingback heels give a fair indication that she's not going for her usual today. As always, her attention is on her surroundings first and foremost, checking various vantage points and the like before turning her attention to her packmate. Who will describe himself momentarily as her player takes a *&!(#()@ call. Another black sedan with tinted windows pulls into the parking lot, this one however is pretty recognizable to anyone who has seen it before though. It is the Maybach 62 European luxury car belonging to Kaminari and sure enough Honda her nigh omni-present protector extricates himself from the vehicle. He is wearing a pair of block mirror shades despite the late hour and a red headband mimicking the look of 'Bean Bandit' "Happy Halloween" he offers, though he is shaking his head for some reason and scanning nearby elevated positions with his eyes. Possibly related to that Kaminari is notably not with him. "Oh, hi, Honda!" Shadi looks so pleased to see him. "Cookie?" She holds a glittery werewolf cookie out to Honda. And then bites the head off another one of her. "Where's Kami?" She asks, moving to hjold out the cookies to Sandra and Oliver as well since they're actually here. Werewolf cookies, yes. They're not bad! Even if they glitter. And then she finally settles to open the gift. "Uwahhh... man you have some rich friends, Shadi," says Amane softly beside the non-pink-wearing Princess of Pink. She doesn't butt in on the conversation however. In fact, the presence of another Japanese seems to make her a bit reticent as she mashes out her cigarette and stores te butt in her usual metal case for later proper disposal. Oliver emerges from the passenger side of Sandra's sedan, and one could be forgiven for at first thinking possibly the pair of them had intended to attend some other party. His coat is about as long as hers, the traditional knee-length, velvet-collared wool Chesterfield over an equally traditional and sleekly cut tuxedo, black tie and all. Unlike Derek's suit, the Brit's suit quite possibly is tailored for him specifically, and he looks rather at ease. More than he probably ought to given the outfit in the locale. His scan of the surroundings is a bit more casual than his packmate's, and a lot more than Honda's, as he strolls after the former. The latter's vehicle certainly gets some attention, and Oliver indicates it to Sandra with a tilt of his head -- despite that she's surely noticed it herself -- and remarks with amusement, "And you thought the Aston Martin would stand out too much." Derek inclines his head politely to Sandra as she arrives, and when Kaminari also does so, she gets a polite head inclination as well. Perhaps his poor neck is getting tired, because Honda is given a nod, and a briefly raised hand in greeting, as is Oliver. Derek's quiet for now, drinking from his orange soda slowly as he examines the newcomers. "I'm humoring you enough for one evening," Sandra replies to Oliver blandly, one brow raised. "Honda," she says to the bodyguard in greeting, the quirk of a smile appearing on her face upon noting the man's attire. "Good to see you, as always. Oliver?" she glances to her packmate and inclines her head towards the brick of a man, "Meet Honda. Honda? Oliver. And this--" she says, with a vague gesture in Shadi's direction as the girl approaches, "would be Shadi Najafi," the cookies noted and given another slight arch of her brow, "whose taste in decor still leaves a little something to be desired," said mildly, though she does politely take one when it's offered, the moment she takes to eye it apparently only allowing her to finish half the introduction. At which point-- "I'm sure she'll get around to hearing who you are eventually," is noted to Oliver, with a note of amusement in her tone. Derek and Amane are, of course, offered nods of greeting, though the latter of the two is given a brief, more curious inspection. Honda takes a cookie from Shadi, the expression on his face is one of 'what have I allowed myself to get roped into'. He simply points upward in response to Shadi's question. But there doesn't seem to be anything to see, not yet. When suddenly a girl's voice can be heard from somewhere in the surroundings, <<Pretty Cure Love Link! L-O-V-E-!>> it sounds an awful lot like Kaminari. Then a high powered flashlight kicks on atop the roof of a single story building overlooking the parking lot, it illuminates a Japanese young woman, probably Kaminari but it's hard to tell, with styled gravity defying lilac hair wearing a purple and white skirted outfit and high boots that can only be described as 'magical girl' she throws a fistful of glitter into the air that comes fluttering down as she goes through the moves of a proper entrance, <<Yuuki no yaiba, Cure Sword!>> she exclaims striking a pose with what looks like an actual purple stylized rapier, <<Kono Cure Sword wa Ai no tsurugi de anata no yabou wo tachikitte miseru!>> <OOC> Kaminari says, "Because text doesn't really do it justice: youtube" "These are the best cookies, what are you talking about?" Shadi asks, as she bites another werewolf head off with a grin at Sandra. She is making werewolves eat werewolf cookies covered in candy glitter. This is the best night. She turns towards Oliver, then, and adds, "Okay! Nice to meet you, Oliver. Everybody, this is Amane, a very good and trustworthy friend of mine who is SUPER AWESOME and helped me out with AMAZING Stuff and..." And then there is Japanese. And Kaminari. She is staring up at her. And then? Well, then she goes, "EEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! OH MY GOSH KAMI THAT IS SO AWESOME!" She bounces up and down. For her own part, Amane just kindof smiles to Sandra at the extra scrutiny she is given. Perhaps for better or worse, she is probably saved from it by Kami. "So nah... " mutters Amane as she shakes her head, "I... I just can't even... " She pinches the bridge of her nose, removing her Nightwing mask for a moment to do so. " "But can you ever =really= humour me enough?" Oliver asks Sandra, raising a brow in return, and he inclines his head in polite greeting both back to Derek and toward Honda, who gets an interested second look-over as he's identified to him. "How do you do," he greets him; Shadi would probably have gotten the same, along with the faint smile and another head-inclination, if she hadn't been a whirlwind of cookie-provision at the time. He does take one, giving it a faintly bemused look. "I thought it was vampires that sparkled these days. Please don't tell me it's contagious." He's just looking about to get to the proper greeting to Shadi after the girl returns her attention to them when the voice from above grabs his attention swiftly. He looks up to see Kaminari's Big Entrance, taking a bite of the cookie once it's clear she's probably a relatively friendly party attendee, and studying her display. "I maintain the car would still qualify as 'low key', given givens," he remarks to Sandra, before looking to Amane and giving her the light-nod and "How do you do," appropriate to having been somewhat introduced. Honda returns Sandra's greeting with a nod, "Happy Halloween." he says taking a bite of his cookie. He nods to Oliver as well, "Nice to meet you." he offers, though his attention is still half on his young charge. For her part Kaminari has disappeared from the rooftop again, presumably getting down however the hell she got up there in the first place. "We still have other places to go after this," Sandra replies to Oliver mildly, though that brow may as well be permanently arched at this point, the Ahroun clearly not sure what to make of that particular entrance. "But, I'll grant you this instance, at least. And for the record," she says, finally looking from the rooftops to the man alongside her, "there is such a thing as humoring you too much," the cookie raised to presumably take a bite out of it-- after which she pauses, and takes a moment or two to visibly deliberate over whether or not she's feeling impolite enough to spit it right back out. Holy hell, that is *way* too much sugar. Shadi beams at Kami and waves at her enthusiastically until she's gone from sight. "I made them myself," she adds to Sandra at her expression. Because that wasn't obvious. Then she sits down on the hood of her car, pulls out her (pink, glittery) smart phone, and presses a button on it. Her car stereo system begins to get louder, slowly, and then switches to new music:
"I was working in the lab late one nightWhen my eyes beheld an eerie sightWhen my monster, from its slab, began to riseAnd suddenly to my surprise He did the Mash, he did the Monster Mash And it's graveyard smashHe did the Mash, it caught on in a flash He did the Mash, he did the Monster Mash..." Of /course/ she'd play that. At a party. Full of monsters. "First that party you planned for her birthday, and now this... " says Amane with both of her own brows arched. "Um. Wow. Yeah. That IS Kaminari, right? I remember you asking where she was a minute ago? I... think." She puts her mask back in place and shakes her head. "So. This is what it's like on THAT side of the tracks... " And for the record, Amane isn't a monster! She's just related to them and doesn't know it. "Happy Halloween," Derek offers to all and sundry, holding out his orange soda as though in a toast. "And ghosts haunt us, every one." His tone is of dry humor. He goes entirely silent at Kaminari's 'transformation,' and remarks just as dryly, "That was." A pause. "Certainly an entrance, if I've ever seen one. ...did I miss the rehearsal?" After a few minutes Cure Sword approaches the party from the direction of the building having extricated herself from the roof. Her stylist must have truly bent the laws of physics to achieve that hair but somehow they did it. She bops and forth a bit to the monster mash music as she arrives, waving to Shadi and Sandra who she knows and giving another wave to Derek and Oliver both of whom she's pretty sure she saw somewhere before. "Happy Halloween!" Apparently she quite enjoys the holiday. The grin Honda gets is one of 'I did it!' and the look expression on Honda's face is one of 'But of course you did.' Only fitting then that Sandra echo Honda's thoughts with a bland, "Of course you did," this aimed in Shadi's direction, the Ahroun lightly clearing her throat in the meantime. There's a less than subtle skyward roll of her eyes at the choice of music, though Kaminari quickly nabs her attention in the meantime, though that attention comes with a slightly incredulous look as more details become clear. "That was-- elaborate," she notes mildly. "I have no earthly idea who you're supposed to be, mind you, but I suppose I'd still have to give some points on the basis of pure enthusiasm." "Lies," Oliver murmurs to Sandra's record-straightening, and eyes his cookie a moment. Either he isn't feeling impolite or he's more on board with the sugar content, as he takes a second bite, glancing sidelong toward Derek at the younger man's remarks. One corner of his lips quirks up slightly. "Probably too distracted by your lost Lenore," he suggests, and a glance at his orange soda moves onward to the refreshments, which do not appear to have other options. Hm. He dips a hand into his pocket, coming up with what appears to be a martini glass, though of necessity it does not currently contain a martini. More's the pity. Study of Kaminari suggests he may have seen her before as well -- hard to be sure, with the hair and all -- but either way, she gets a nod of acknowledgment and greeting. Inclining her head in an awkward bow, still reflexive in some ways but with an obvious sense of being unused to it, Amane says to Kaminari "That was... some use of resources. Quite an amazing use. Good to see you again, Miss Kaminari... " She cuts off, putting two fingers to one of the earplugs that is in her ear. "Mmm. Well. I have to ride, I just got intel on my first target and it's time sensitive. Nice meeting y'all." She begins peeling hand-painted PVC armor off of her riding suit, revealing more of the real kevlar and leather beneath. "Shadi, like I said, I'm likely to be outta pocket for a while. Don't worry, okay? Things will work out. Vaya con Dios, hon. And watch out for those fucking Nazis." She pulls a harnass with tactical pouches, two holsters, and a tablet sheath out of her saddle storage as she folds the PVC armor and puts it away in a compartment with her mask. Kaminari smiles, "A costume is a chance to be someone else, if you are going to transform it should be as complete as possible. The less anyone can recongnize you, the freer you are until you remove the mask again." she replies seemingly answering both Sandra and Amane at the same time, "I am Cure Sword, a magical heroine of love and justice." she further offers for Sandra's benefit. Given how often she fights with a sword, one might even say it's a bit on the nose. "It is nice to meet you, Oliver," says Shadi, warmly, to him. She then peers at Sandra with wide eyes, acting all innocent, before she turns to Amane. "I heard you," she adds, "and I hear you. Don't worry. The fascists are going to have enough to worry about as it is to bother with someone like me." She gives Amane a hug, leaning in for it before she can depart, and then lets her go. She still has that gift to finish opening. "Oooh! That sounds awesome, Kami," she says, exuberantly. Smiling gently, a gentleness that touches her Veteran-like eyes with their thousand-yard-stare, Amane hugs Shadi in return. She holsters her tablet and two pistols, sitting on her saddle then as she ratchets her slids to chamber a round for a combat load and slides out the clips each in turn to re-load another bullet into them. On goes her helmet, and her engine purrs to life before she takes off into the night; a black rider on a black bike. The blur of red from her tail lights soon disappears like it's own horizon into the distance. The lines Derek's drawn on his face do indeed magnify each frown or look of displeasure he evinces-- but by the same token, it makes it clear that he's highly amused by Oliver's words, despite his attempts to tamp down his reaction and remain fully dour. It's a thing that *would* be subtle, if not for those emphasizing lines. As Amane prepares to leave, he gives her an inclination of his head, still with that faint amusement about him, and says, "Good evening." He's quiet as others say their greetings, farewells, and comments about Kaminari's entrance, and then he indicates Kaminari himself, nodding to her introduction. "Love and justice," he repeats, far less dryly than one might expect. "I *could* sense your tell-tale heart even from down here." Sandra 'ah's at the explanation, again watching Amane as the girl suits up to leave, noting the various peculiarities and not-so-peculiarities prior to the departure. Ultimately, it's Derek that calls her attention back, "That," said to him, the Ahroun's own tone taking a turn for the dry, "in any other venue--" --a pause-- "--much as one can call this a 'venue'--" she notes, "would be a terrible pick-up line." "Lovely party," Oliver replies to Shadi, mock-toasting her with the remaining half or so of his cookie. Which, as an object, does not ideally support the overall generally-Bondian sort of mein he's aiming at, but what can you do. Derek's remark gets another small upward quirk at the corner of his mouth, and Sandra's observation an exhalation like the ghost of a laugh. "There are worse things to be a magical heroine of, I suppose," he says, briefly distracted by Amane's two-wheeled exit, and glances to Derek again, giving his glass a light wiggle. "You don't happen to have spotted a cask of amontillado about the place, by chance?" Derek gets a curious look from Kaminari and then she looks to Sandra when she comments and back to Derek before laughing, "Bring me Shaw's head on a pike and I'll consider it." she grins before going to get some orange soda and another cookie. First, Shadi moves towards Kaminari. She attempts to hug her, of course. "That is the BEST costume. Typically, Muslims don't really do Halloween so I figured I'd keep to a traditional look but add a bit of flare to it myself." She then, presuming Kami both allows the hug and then allows her to let go, she moves towards Sandra and leans in to give her a hug. "I know this isn't really your scene! Thank you for cming." She beams towards Oliver, though. "It's nice to finally meet you!" Again, Derek tries to prevent himself from smiling, and at least this time is mostly-successful. He dryly replies, "I am constrained to point out that it hardly qualifies as terrible. That would only be mediocre. I suggest the almost Dadaesque: 'Was your father a thief? Because someone stole the stars from the sky, and now NASA's lost all its funding,' or more probably the usual style's, 'Do you know what sort of material this is?'" He pauses to indicate the floofy fabric around his neck. "'Boyfriend material. Also: most likely a polyester blend.'" He cants his head to the side at Oliver's question, and actually nods. "Indeed. You only need to follow me down to my vaults in order to partake of it." Beat. "Or there's orange soda." He again lifts his up, now half-empty, in a sort of toast. He turns to Kaminari at her laugh, tilting his head again. "I'm afraid I don't have a pike handy." He glances to Oliver and Sandra, as though curious if they have one at hand. Derek watches the hug between Kaminari and Shadi, and takes the opportunity to take a second cookie. Sandra's brow arches a little at the lengthy reply she gets, a kind of bemused little half-smile appearing on her face in spite of herself, and as it continues-- well, it does let Shadi sneak in for that hug, which itself earns a faintly startled leap of the Ahroun's shoulders. Might be a testament to how much she actually likes the girl that she doesn't immediately launch into an indignant protest, instead loosing a (feigned) put-upon sigh and loosely wrapping an arm around Shadi's shoulders. Though there is a light, corresponding squeeze to go with it, and a soft (dare it be said, warm?), "You're welcome," afforded, which manages to be not quite as put-upon as the sigh. "And I thought it was about time you got to meet him. Any longer without a proper introduction, and you might have just assumed he was a figment of my imagination." Kaminari of course returns Shadi's hug when she comes over to her, "Thank you! I like yours, too. Halloween is so magical, an entire night dedicated to being someone else. Like a masquerade ball but everywhere!" Oliver gives another of those breaths of a laugh at Derek's examples, and looks about to say something about them when the answer to his own question comes. There's something about the angle of the lip-quirk that suggests a bit more of a smile getting repressed, even as he lifts a brow and glances over to Sandra. "I don't know, I think he's getting the hang of it," he remarks, giving a shake of his head to the apparent query regarding pikes on hand. "Might a halibut do?" he suggests, without seeming to expect an answer, and watches the successful hugging of his packmate with something between amusement and disbelief. "I'm still not convinced =you= aren't, given this," he says to the girl, "although I'm not certain my imagination runs to this sort of power." Reaching for her orange soda as well,. Shadi leans into Sandra fondly and has a drink. "Well, it's all about time. I am very happy to meet everyone! Always. It just means I have more people to put to work to help us get Shaw's head on that eventual pike. That will be the best present for all of us>" She is so happy! Derek inhales a bit of his soda, coughing and sputtering for a moment. He's lost all 'cool' factor and he knows it-- which may be why, when he's recovered, he notes, "I am clearly too tired to attempt complicated maneuvers like imbibing orange soda." To be fair, he follows this up with an *actual* yawn. "Happy Halloween, everyone. May flights of angels sing thee to thy rest... when indeed you do rest." Everyone is given a polite nod, and then he turns to go. And I should sleep! Sandra shoots Oliver a vaguely underwhelmed look, though doesn't quite dispense with the -- well, yes, one supposes this is a bit of a sustained hug, isn't it? "I'd like a moment to speak to you in the near future, by the way," she notes to Derek. "I'll send you a text to give you some idea of when that might be." She looks to Oliver, then, and says, "And you can stop giving me that look ay day now," in a decidedly milder tone. Shadi is taking advantage of Mount Sandra to lean on. And then she has another drink of her soda. "So you're the infamous Oliver, though. Sandra'd mentioned you more than once. It's cool you're here!" She stifles a yawn, adjusts her glasses. With the departure of Derek and Amane, Kaminari drifts over to where Shadi is talking with Sandra and Oliver. She stops to refill her orange soda on the way and takes another werewolf cookie to munch on. "How's Friday for you?" Oliver inquires of Sandra in a tone that sounds as though he might well produce some kind of datebook at any moment. At least, if his hands weren't currently full. He has another bite of the cookie to go some way to fixing this. He wishes Derek good night as the Theurge takes his leave, and looks back to the others -- most specifically, Shadi. "Am I infamous here already? I thought it would take more work than that. But I've heard quite a bit about you, as well. I'm pleased to meet you properly." Though Sandra *does* seem to be tolerating the closeness for a bit longer than usual - especially given the state of the moon - she does eventually, carefully, extricate herself, one hand placed on Shadi's shoulder so the girl doesn't go tumbling to the ground once she does so. "I was hoping for closer to 'now,' actually," she says to Oliver. "And you may have been mentioned once or twice, yes. As both an elusive packmate and a diligent house-hunter." She nods to Kaminari again, and says, "I don't believe you two have met officially, either, though you saw one another at the moot." As she's disentangled, Shadi says, "Okay. I need to do one very important thing before we all go." She moves over towards the trunk of her car and then opens it. "Don't looks guys. I mean that." She's expecting them to keep their backs turned or eyes closed. Assuming they don't cheat, they'll hear some rustling sounds. Rustling sounds and creaking of rope. She has something wrapped in a blanket. She has thrown the rope up over one of the street laps (not an easy throw, but she managed) and tied it around the base. She then pulls the wrapped unble up some, and pulls the blanket away from it. She has apparently spent some time lovingly crafting a Damien Shaw Pinata. Seriously. "Okay! WHO WANTS FIRST WHACK?" Kaminari nods to Sandra, "Yes, I do think I remember seeing him there." she offers a polite bow to Oliver, "Kaminari Fujiwara, a pleasure to meet you. There is more but another time when we are not in public." her manners are quite refined, despite the costume. And then Shadi unveils a Shaw Pinata, Kaminari draws her costume rapier pointing it at the pinata, though it seems pretty real that is definitely metal shining when it catches the light, "Too bad Derek left, now all we need is a pike!" "Oliver Cholmondeley-Fetherstonhaugh," the owner of said name replies (it's pronounced 'chumley-fanshaw', because of course it is), returning Kaminari's bow in an equally polite if likely more Western fashion, "I do remember seeing you there, yes." The agreement for 'later' on the rest of the officially-meeting goes unspoken, particularly as the pinata appears. His brows lift as he looks it over. "You =do= make things festive," he remarks, clearly if subtly amused. "I think the sword might be overdoing it for the first go. Although possibly efficient." "I still have a tire iron in the car, I think," Sandra says, vaguely amused, herself, though it's more in the (also feigned) put-upon 'kids these days' manner that Shadi has at least become accustomed to. But hey, she's volunteering a tire iron. "May not be quite as satisfying as a crowbar, but it might be worth a shot." "I have a bat for it, actually," says Shadi. "I just couldn't get it out without revealing, you know." She produces the bat, then holds it out to Kaminari. She offered first and it's probably a fair bet that if Sandra got to go first, she'd just end it right off the... ...bat. Cure Sword takes takes the bat, testing the weight and balance a bit before holding it forward and shouting, "HIRAMEKE HOLY SWORD!" before lunging towards the pinata and slamming the bat into it. <OOC> Shadi says, "Why don't you roll str+melee? I hve a set number of succs in mind to break it :D" <<DICE>> Kaminari rolls strength+melee, difficulty 6 Kami's hit lands with a solid thwock! "Normally," explains Shadi, You'd be blindfolded but that kinda misses th point of getting to punt Damien Shaw around," she explains. But it doesn't rbeak. She must've reinforced it with something! She knew Garou can dish out a beating! "Kami, can you pass the stick to Mr. Oliver, please?" she nods towards him. "Tire irons are always worth a shot," Oliver says, "It's good to know we're properly set for escalation if necessary. Bat, tire iron, sword. I suppose at that point we'd need to start considering explosives..." The survival of the thing through the other impact gets a bit further interest; he polishes off his cookie, and the glass disappears, still empty, back into his coat pocket. Quite possibly freeing his hands up for pinata abuse, though he does ask, "Any particular order we're taking this in?" rather than just immediately demanding the bat for himself. Still. Its odds of surviving his go may well be a bit better than of the Ahroun's. Shadi answers that well enough, and he holds out a hand to accept it from the other Ragabash. His grip on the thing's not quite baseball, but seems to work through a light practice swing or two to get the heft of it before he moves up to take a proper shot. No stylish attack name announcements here, just a step in and a swing. <<DICE>> Oliver rolls strength + melee, difficulty 6 THWOCK! Cracks are starting to show on the exterior! Shadi looks smugly pleased, nodding towrds Oliver when he passes the bat to Sandra. "Nothing that can't be rigged up with a little time and the right supplies," Sandra replies mildly, presumably to the explosives comment. And sounds oddly confident about that. Nonetheless, she eyes the Pinata once it's been struck, and, once the bat is handed over, actually grips the damn thing like someone who's played the game before. As with Oliver, it's without fanfare or fancy announcements that she readies a swing, and, heels or no, takes a shot. <<DICE>> Sandra rolls strength + melee, difficulty 6 CRASH. The damn things cracks open and the reinforced padding and palstic interior unfurls and breaks all together, spilling out oodles of CANDY. Of course. It's a hell of a swing, which means the coat isn't being held together by crossed arms anymore, the single button keeping it in place having come undone-- and means the nice, sleeveless black dress underneath is put on full display when when Sandra turns around, the bat resting on her shoulder. "It's called talent," she says dryly, in a tone that suggests a quotation of some kind. "I just have it. I can't explain it. You either have it, or you don't." "You should call that 'Full Moon Sparkling Smash'" Kaminari comments watching the destruction off Shaw's effigy. Shadi just looks at Sandra flatly at her comment. She clearly missed the reference. Like she's not a baseball persoN! Oliver looks fairly satisfied with the results of his swing, and the more so at his packmate's. "Well played," he tells her, though the quote gets a tilt of the head. Recognized as one from the delivery, perhaps, but if so he clearly has no clue who or where it would be from. Also not a baseball person. Shockingly enough. He skips past it for now, adding, "Good look for it, too. Might just set a trend." The pinata carnage and scattered candy get an approving glance before he looks back to the others. "Do we put his head on the bat now, in lieu of a proper pike? We could parade it around town a bit." Sandra glances downwards, giving a light 'tch' upon seeing - rather than feeling, at least just yet - the coat having come open, the bat twirled once before it's presented back to Shadi. The quizzical looks, she doesn't bother to address. "If we do," she says, "it seems only fair that you do the honors." She glances at the, er, guts of the Pinata, and says, "That said, whatever of that was 'my' portion should be put in a bowl and left out for the kids - the actual kids - at CYC. I'm sure they'd enjoy it a lot more than I would." She pauses, then-- looks to Kaminari, and adds, "Sparkling?" in a deadpan. "Really?" Kaminari nods to Sandra doing her best to look completely serious, though with that hair and that outfit taking anything she says right now seriously is no small feat, "Sparkling. Adjectives are important. Many wonderful attacks sparkle and it gives a nice referrence to the jewelry worn while doing it." "I like that idea," agrees Shadi at 'Full Moon Sparkling Smash' "That works," she beamns. "I already left some cookies there," they'll love that, "but I can do that too." She nods towards Kaminari. Solemnly. She is in strong agreement here. "It does tie the biscuits in nicely," Oliver notes to Sandra, as deadpan as her initial question. Tch. Everyone's against her! For certain values of 'against'. "They can probably have mine as well," he says to Shadi, though there's a small pause, and then he moves into the realm of candy-shrapnel to scoop a handful or two up and drop it into his coat pockets. Not enough to ruin the line of the coat, of course. "Most of mine," he amends, and gives the remnants of the pinata another thoughtful look. "...are you familiar with Guy Fawkes Day?" he asks Shadi, as he scoops up another couple handfuls of scattered candy to drop back into the 'corpse' whence they came. "Of course! The commemoration of the Gun Powder Plot against King James I," says Shadi, nodding towrads Oliver. She's familiar with the story, after all. She bends down to pick up soem candy herself, a glance towards Oliver afterwards. "And, of course, the symbol of hacktavists and actavists everywhere these days." With or without the can't-take-you-seriously outfit, Sandra looks thoroughly unconvinced. "Right, well," she says, "I think I'll take a pass on anything too elaborate." That said, she starts to button the coat back up, not seeming exceptionally interested in the candy retrieval, herself. "Though speaking personally," she says, "I'd say 'Full Moon Massacre' is more on-point." "Mm. That doesn't really sound like a signature move, though," Oliver says, "THAT just sounds like a good time. And possibly a band name." He doesn't seem to be keeping any of the candies he's gathering, just tidying up. "At any rate," he notes, to Shadi again, "Fireworks and effigy burning; fun for the whole family." |
